Frequently asked questions

What makes Wesley different?

Wesley is a small, close-knit school where families and teachers know each other. We have been part of the community for many years, and many of our teachers have been with Wesley for a long time. This creates a familiar, caring environment where children can build strong relationships and families feel known and welcomed. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, supported, and connected.

What ages do you serve?

We welcome children from 3 weeks old through 12 years old. Our programs include Infant through Pre-K, as well as after-school and summer programs for school-age children.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Families are asked to arrive by 9:00 a.m. so children can begin their day with their classroom community.

Can I tour Wesley?

Yes! We would love to meet your family. Tours are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45 a.m.–5:45 p.m. Use our contact form to schedule your tour.en.

What does 4-Star Texas Rising Star mean?

Wesley is a 4-Star Texas Rising Star (TRS) child care center. For families, this means Wesley has chosen to go beyond basic licensing requirements and is committed to high-quality teaching, professional development, safe practices, family engagement, and children's school readiness.

What curriculum do you use?

We use a play-based approach with:
  - Frog Street Early Childhood Curriculum
  - Conscious Discipline®
  - Texas School Ready elements

Children learn through play, hands-on experiences, exploration, relationships, and teacher-guided activities. Our goal is to make learning meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for every child.

What does a typical day look like?

Children experience a balance of learning, play, and rest throughout the day. Our classrooms include:

  - Indoor and outdoor play
  - Small- and large-group activities
  - Hands-on learning
  - Reading and language experiences
  - Social-emotional learning
  - Rest and nap time

Our goal is to support the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

How do teachers support my child's social-emotional development?

We help children learn to express feelings, build friendships, solve problems, and develop self-regulation. Teachers use Conscious Discipline®, positive guidance, and age-appropriate strategies to help children learn and grow.

Do you accept CCS?

Yes! Wesley accepts Child Care Services (CCS) for families who qualify.

How do you communicate with families?

Brightwheel is our primary family communication platform. Families use Brightwheel to receive school information, communicate with teachers, and stay connected to their child's experience.

How do you keep children safe?

Safety and supervision are a priority at Wesley. We use security cameras, controlled exterior access, active supervision, required staff training, and follow Texas child care licensing requirements.

Do children nap?

Yes. Children have a supervised rest period after lunch. Infants follow safe-sleep practices and nap according to their individual needs.

Do you provide meals?

Families provide lunch and snacks. Breakfast may be brought and eaten at school between 7:00–8:00 a.m.

What is your screen-time policy?

Children under age 2 do not use screens. For older children, screen use is limited and only used when it is developmentally and instructionally appropriate.

What are your arrival and pick-up times?

Please arrive by 9:00 a.m. and plan to pick up your child by 6:00 p.m. We recommend arriving by 5:45 p.m. to allow enough time for pick-up and sign-out. Late fees begin after 6:01 p.m. Families must sign children in and out each day using Brightwheel and the school kiosk.
